MR man guns down colleague

Imphal, October 01 2021:
An escort party member of BJP Manipur Pradesh president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, succumbed to bullet would he suffered as one of the escort personnel opened fire with his service weapon after they reportedly got into an scuffle.
Police have arrested the assailant in connection with the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Rifleman Aribam Bimolchandra Sharma (52) of Naharup Mayai Leikai, and arrested person as Rifleman Thongginthang Baite of Litan, Ukhrul district.
Both the deceased and the perpetrator belong to 7 Manipur Rifles based at Khabeisoi.
According to a police report, the incident occurred around 10 am Friday at Sharda's Brahmapur Aribam Leikai Adhikarimayum Leirak residence.
The BJP president had already left for Delhi and the escort personnel were left behind at the residence.
Of the 16 personnel on duty, three were out on errand.
On Friday morning, three of the personnel were cooking in a room adjoining the barrack; both Bimolchandra Sharma and Thongginthang Baite were drinking liquor in another room.
The two of them started quarrelling and Thongginthang shot Bimolchandra with the AK-47 issued to him (Thongginthang) .
The bullet struck Bimolchandra near his mouth and exited from the back of his neck.
Bimolchandra was immediately rushed to Raj Medicity and later shifted to the ICU owing to severity of his condition but could not be saved.
On receiving news of the incident, a combined team of Porompat PS and Imphal East District PS arrived at the scene and arrested Thongginthang, while also recovering the AK-47 .
Porompat PS has registered an FIR in connection with the incident.
