Manipur High Court Bar Association formed

With the main objective of ensuring smooth functioning of Manipur High Court and Subordinate Courts, Manipur High Court Bar Association has been formed along with appointment of its office bearers.
According to a press statement released by its Secretary Koijam Modhusudon, eight office bearers and executive members of the newly formed Association have been appointed.
Rarry Mangsatabam has been appointed as its President, Meihoubam Rakesh as VP, Koijam Modhusudon as Secretary, Kh Tarunkumar as Joint Secretary, Serto T kom as Joint Secretary, Laimayum Sevananda Sharma as Treasurer, and Amarjit Naorem and S Rajeetchandra as Executive members.
The statement further said that the Association has submitted a representation to the CJ, Gauhati HC, Imphal Bench, Imphal on January 30 through the Registrar of Gauhati HC, Imphal Bench intimating about the formation of the Association and for calling positive opinion and views of the said Association with regard to welfare of Advocates practicing in Manipur.
The statement said that the Association has been formed to strive for making the functioning of the Manipur High Court and Subordinate Courts without any disturbance.
The association shall not indulge in any form of strike or agitation which may result in paralyzing the functioning of the Courts in the State.
It may be mentioned that the High Court Bar Association, Manipur had launched a prolonged cease work agitation demanding recruitment of all the seven Judges of the Manipur High Court from among the qualified advocates of the State.
The agitation was lifted only after talks with the Union Law Minister.
The Manipur High Court Bar Association was then formed by advocates who felt that the agitation of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur was one sided and it not only harmed their clients but also the career of the advocates.
