9th Annual Conference of Dalit Sahitya

Inner Manipur Lok Sabha MP Dr Thokchom Meinya has mooted the idea of nurturing Manipuri literature bodies, including Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur with funding from both the Centre and State Government.
Speaking as the chief guest on the 9th Annual Conference of Dalit Sahitya-2018, which was organized by Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur at Manipur State Guest House, Sanjenthong, Imphal, Meinya observed that enriching the cultural heritage of Manipur and promoting the same to the outside world need a massive support from the Government.
He went on to ask the authorities concerned of Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur to prepare an appropriate project and approach the Centre and State Government for funds to develop the academy.
The MP further pointed out that Dalit community in India has increased its prominence and recognition in the country due to the emergence of many great and eminent personalities from within the community.
The function was also attended by former Minister Moirangthem Hemanta Singh, Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal branch, Wangjing president Moirangthem Rajendro Singh, Dalit Sahitya Academy, India National secretary Yumnam Mahendrakumar Singh, JNMDA Guru Langpoklakpam Lakpati Singh among others as presidium members.
Apart from releasing "Wangjing Turd" - written by Y Mahendrakumar Singh and "Ashibagi Mami" - written by T Rameshwor Singh, awards were given to several artists and writers during the function.
