JAC lauds Works Minister's assurance

The JAC for Development of Old Ukhrul Road has expressed boundless gratitude towards the Works Minister for not only allowing to meet him despite the day being a non-visiting day but also for assuring to allocate fund in 2018-2019 work program to revive the New Haven to Tolloi Junction via Lamlang Gate Road, which is the lifeline for many villages.
The bold measure taken by the Minister to alleviate the hardships of hill people has shown the seriousness under his administration to develop the hills and the valley equally for which the JAC would extend full cooperation, conveyed a joint press release issued by co-convenor and convenor of the JAC.
It stated that the Minister has also assured to complete the repairing of the ill fated road before December 2019 as a Christmas gift to the people of the areas.
New Haven to Tolloi Junction via Lamlang Gate Road not only serve as the sole lifeline for eight villages but is crucial to the entire western section of the district, which had been neglected for more than three decades by the previous Government, it added.
But under the present popular ministry, Rs 1 crore was allotted to revive the said road, however, the same has been diverted for other works in total disregard to the need of the public which compelled the JAC to approach the Works Minister.
The JAC submitted a memorandum to the Minister protesting against the diversion of fund allotted for the repairing of Old Ukhrul Road to another work at Pettigrew College Ukhrul.
During the interaction with the Minister, he (Minister) expressed dismay over the act of implementing the developmental work with poor perspective and orientation.
JAC Members including convenor, Vakham Zimik, advisor LPS Ukhrul, co-convenor, AS Wungnaoyo were present among other members and headman of diffferent villages.
