Imphal, September 28 2015:
The annual ritual of 'Langban Heitha-Leitha' was offered to the martyrs of 2001 Great June Uprising at their Kekrupat memorial complex in Imphal West on Monday.
The ritual function was organized by United Committee Manipur (UCM).
Leaders from various women organizations and representatives of UCM including its president Elangbam Johnson took part in the ritual.
Talking to the media on the sidelines of the function, Johnson said the annual Langban Heitha-Leitha is held every year at Kekrupat to fondly remember and honour the martyrs of June Uprising.
The willing victims of June 18, 2001 episode sacrificed their lives for the cause of territorial integrity of Manipur, the UCM President noted.

He stated, "We must follow their path." Johnson also said, "We must fight against all those who are trying to break up the identities of the hills and valley.
No power can tear apart united Manipur into pieces." He announced that a series of meetings will be held in various parts of the State soon to discuss about the prevailing issues plaguing the State.
If need be, the Central leaders will be approached to thrash out these issues, Johnson added.
The UCM leader further said the current trouble in the hill districts is seemingly rooted in misunderstanding and that a peaceful settlement will certainly end the problem.
Both the State and Central Government should check all activities aimed at disintegrating the State, he urged.
He said communities in the State have been living together since time immemorial.
"We need to uphold peaceful co-existence," Johnson appealed.
He criticized Nagaland and Mizoram States for openly interfering in the internal affairs of Manipur by making illogical statements which he said should not be repeated.
These neighbouring States should not antagonize any group in Manipur, he said.
