Indo-Myanmar liaison meet

Imphal, April 28 2011:
The 43rd Indo�Myanmar Border Liaison meeting between Indian Army officers and Myanmar Army officers began at Myanmar today.
The meeting will continue till May 2 .
The 12-member Indian Army delegation led by Maj Gen DS Hooda, GOC 57 Mtn Div left for Myanmar today said a release of the 57 Mountain Division HQ.
The Indo-Myanmar Border Liaison Meet is a landmark event where representatives of both the Armies interact and exchange views on matters relating to security and measures to be initiated to control insurgency in both countries.
The event also gives an opportunity to strengthen co-operation between the two countries, the release said.
On the other hand, the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army Thursday handed over earth moving machinery to the Myanmar Army as part of its assistance to Myanmar for road construction in a simple ceremony held in Moreh.

officials.
A number of Indian Army officers who are part of Indo-Myanmar Border Liaison Meeting Delegation took part in the function held before they left for Myanmar.
The equipment was presented to Brigadier Aung San Chit, Commander RCC, Kalay of the Myanmar army.
This gesture by the Indian Army will strengthen co-operation between the two neighbours for future growth and amiable relationship.
The ceremony culminated with Maj Gen DS Hooda handing over the keys of the engineering equipment to the Myanmar authorities.
