Assam Rifles spreads Christmas cheer among villagers

Kamjong/Kakching, December 27 2018:
Chassad Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQIGAR (South) organized a number of activities to spread happiness during Christmas in Kamjong district.
Activities included sports events, medical camps, Church program, assistance to orphanage and distribution of cakes and sweets to school children and youth.
Sports items including volleyballs, volleyball nets and footballs were presented to the children and youth as a token of friendship.
It received overwhelming response from the locals as they were delighted by this gesture of Assam Rifles especially during the momentous occasion of Christmas.
Medical camps were organised at remote villages of Grihang and Aishi, in which 'over 200 persons were treated by a team of doctors and paramedical staff of Chassad Battalion.
The activities were organized to extend all possible help and spread cheer to the remote villages of Kamjong district where requisite facilities and infrastructure are not available due to the remoteness of the location.
The villagers appreciated the initiative taken by the Assam Rifles and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the help extended.
Meanwhile, Kakching Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated Christmas with local people of Chakpikarong sub-division with great pomp and splendour.
Company Operating Base of JSalluk reached out to all the villages of Chakpikarong sub-division during Christmas celebration.
Gifts and sports items were distributed to various villagers and a friendly volley ball match was also organised between Salluk Company and Chakpikarong sub-division team at Tampi village.
The match was witnessed by the locals of various villages, sports being a major event of Christmas celebration.
