Phungyar range villages peeved with local councillor

Phungyar range villages under 21-Shingkap District Council Constituency (DCC), Kamjong have strongly come out against the local councillor for his alleged act of favouritism.
The villagers have also withdrawn their support to the local councillor for the uneven allocation of developmental funds during his 5 years tenure.
Phungyar range villages (Godah, Koso, Leishi, Lungsang, Leiting, and Shakok) accused the ADC member Somimayar Awungshi of unfair conduct.
Convener Rungshing Angkhang stated that an emergency joint meeting of the seven village headmen and VA secretaries was held at the residence of the Headman of Leishi village.
During the meeting, Phungyar range village leaders expressed their discontentment against the local councillor for the development works that have been sidelined in their villages.
He also questioned the concentration of most of the ADC member's proposed work programmes at Mapithel range villages and added that most of the village headmen want a new leader.
They also unanimously adopted a resolution to withdraw support to the incumbent councillor.
No funds were also allotted in the 3rd State Fund and the 15th Finance Commission for any of the seven villages.
R Angkhang further stated that name sake repair of primary schools in Koso, Leishi and IVR Road clearance under 14th Finance Commission were also carried out without informing the villages concerned.
