Weaving loom distributed at Heirok

To improve the economy of villagers, Laishram Purnima Devi Handloom and Handicraft Development Society distributed 30 weaving looms to women weavers of Heirok and its adjoining Maring village today.
The Society distributed the 30 looms in the first phase of its larger plan where it aims to distribute 123 weaving looms to women weavers from 41 villages of Heirok and its adjoining Maring village in a phase-wise manner.
Speaking to the media persons regarding the distribution of looms, Founder Secy of the Society, Laishram Hemanta said that the the weaving looms were distributed to selected women weavers of Heirok to enhance their income and to become a self-reliant individual so that they can look after their family, particularly to look after their children's education which will bring a better society in future.
He continued that the Society is planning to distribute more weaving looms to selected weavers of the adjoining villages of Heirok including Maring inhabitated villages such as Karongthel, Thamlai, Waba Ching, Heinou Makhong etc.
The today' function was also attended by ex-CEO, Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board, Laishram Biren as chief guest; Project Manager, District Handloom and Textiles Thoubal, Ch Rebika as president and Addl SP (LO), Thoubal district police, Th Deshorjit, Pradhan nominee, Heirok part (II) GP, Th Premjit as guests of honour.
