Poor farmers can generate extra income through beekeeping

Chairman of Khunai Apunba Bee Keeping and Honey Processing Producer Company Limited, A Tarakishore stated that beekeeping is one method which can easily generate additional income.
Speaking on the 2nd foundation day of the company at Manipur Press Club today, Tarakishore said that the foundation day was organised to deliberate on how to guide the deprived farmers of the State and possible initiatives for the welfare of the farmers.
He stated that a bee box making unit has been set up at Nambol under the guidance of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the unit can successfully produce six to seven bee-boxes in a day.
The said unit is a mechanised manufacturing unit, he added.
He added that many poor farmers in the State can earn extra income through bee rearing and without utilizing much time.
The Khunai Apunba Bee Keeping and Honey Processing Producer Company Limited, apart from bee rearing,, has taken up few other initiatives related to protection of the ecosystem including tree plantation drives, however, the company has not been able to widen its capacity or service as it is in the initial stage for now.
Managing Director Crezen Tech Pvt Ltd, W Somraj was also present in the event.
