Locals, orgs shut down Wangoi Municipal Council office

Imphal, January 24 2019:
Denouncing the transfer of Wangoi Municipal Council executive officer, M Rajen without valid reason and demanding immediate repeal of the order, senior citizens, clubs, Meira Paibis, NGOs, civil societies, beneficiaries of Housing for All, beneficiaries of Integrated Household Latrine and SHGs under Wangoi Municipal Council locked the Council today.
The protesters also staged a sit in protest following the shutting down of the Municipal Council.
One beneficiary of Housing for All, W Jitendra, while speaking to media persons on the sideline of the protest, maintained that, earlier, the height of development in Wangoi Municipal Council remained stagnant and the Council was lagging behind among all the urban local bodies in the State.
However, when executive' officer M Rajen joined the office, people living under Wangoi Municipal Council witnessed numerous developments, he claimed.
The beneficiary further stated that the officer Contributed greatly in delivering various schemes to the deserving beneficiaries including the Housing for All scheme.
Warning that the CSOs, beneficiaries, clubs and others will be compelled to take up stringent agitations if the transfer order is not revoked at the earliest, he further denounced that such eligible officer who has been working for the welfare of the people in the area should not be transferred without proper reason.
