Driver injured in blockade related incident

Imphal, September 23 2011:
Driver of a Tata Sumo was critically injured after it felt into the gorge when blockade supporters of UNC attacked a group of vehicles with stones and clubs in Thamnapokpi area.
The Tata Sumo was coming towards Imphal along with around 40 other vehicles from Moreh after assurance from Chandel Police.
The injured driver identified as Oinam Nanao (26) from Sunusiphai received injuries in the head when his Tata Sumo felt in to the gorge.
He was admitted to Jeevan Hospital at Kakching Lamkhai and was later referred to Shija Hospitals as his condition did not improve.
He is lying unconscious in the Shija Hospital at present.
Angered by the incident, the drivers protested at Kakching Lamkhai and blocked vehicles from transporting essential commodities towards Chandel District Headquarter.
However, Kakching Police controlled the situation from taking an ugly turn.
