GOC DS Hooda donates pedal boats

Imphal, May 23, 2011:
Maj Gen, DS Hooda, GOC of 57 Mtn Dvn today handed over four pedal boats to the Biodiversity and Conservation Association, Luwangshangbam.
The Red Shield Division provided the boats to the association under its Military Civic Action programme.
Addressing at the handing over function, DS Hooda asserted that Central security forces are in the state to control law and order.
Even though no major help could be provided, Central security establishments are helping the people in taking up developmental works to some extent, he said.
IFCD minister, N Biren who attended the function expressed gratitude to the GOC for readily providing the pedal boats when approached to him.
The association had sought the donation of the boats as a help in developing Luwangshangbam Irong pat as a tourist spot.
He also recalled the role taken by DS Hooda to relieve the people whenever they faced any misfortune.
He said, Gen Hooda had taken a major role in opening NH 39 and NH 53 when a prolonged blockade was imposed on these two lifelines of the state and in maintaining law and order in the state.
