Imphal, December 22, 2013:
The villagers of Khongdei Khuman under Karong Assembly Constituency in Purul Sub-Division of Senapati district have urged the State Government to open up a veterinary health centre in the village.
Khongdei Khuman Village has a population of 3000 in about 600 households.
The primary occupation of the villagers is animal-rearing.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, a villager by the name Angam said that a large number of poultry birds, cattle, buffaloes and pigs are being reared by the farmers.
But the lack of a veterinary hospital is a matter of great concern to the villagers, especially at the time of outbreak of animal diseases.
The neighbouring villages of Khunou Ngawar and Shiapung would also benefit if a veterinary centre is opened up at Khongdei Khuman, he noted.
He appealed to the authorities concerned to look after the needs of the villagers and set up the veterinary health centre in the village at the earliest.
