Draft Tourism Policy near completion

The drafting of a new Tourism Policy of Manipur is under process and it is almost completed, Rajesh Kumar, Principal Secretary of Tourism, has informed.
He was speaking on the closing function of the two-day long seminar on "Strategy for Tourism Development and Capacity Building" at Hotel Classic here.
The seminar was organized by Manipur Tourism Forum under the sponsorship of the State Government.
Rajesh Kumar further informed that after the final completion of the draft Tourism Policy, feedbacks and suggestions from the public would be called.
Apart from organizing such seminars along with other stakeholders, the co-operation from all sides is essential for development of Tourism industry in the State, he noted.
While pointing out that Loktak Lake is an important tourist attraction spot.
Rajesh Kumar disclosed that a number of projects are on the pipeline for beautification of Loktak Lake.
The State Government is planning to focus on providing water sports, speed boat and rope-way.
There are also plans for developing tourist spots in Moreh.
Speaking on the occasion as a resource person, PK Dong, Advisor (Tourism), noted that Manipur has huge potential for development in tourism.
If all the necessary developmental works are put in place, Manipur would surely become one of the leading tourist destinations in the world.
The unique martial arts, culture and tradition of the people coupled with the blessed natural beauty of the land would attract tourists from far and wide.
Chief Secretary of the State DS Poonia was also present on the occasion.
