District Child Protection Unit, Ukhrul invites applications from destitute children

Imphal, February 20 2023:
District Child Protection Unit, Ukhrul has invited applications from several categories of destitute children of school going age (6 to 18 years) from Ukhrul district, Manipur to avail benefits of sponsorship assistance under Mission Vatsalya (formerly known as Child Protection Services) .
A notification issued by Pabitra Thingbaijam, DCPO, Ukhrul/Kamjong has listed out the categories eligible for applications as i) orphan/semi orphan destitute school going children (survived by single parent), less than 18 years living with extended family or single parent, ii) school going children whose parent(s) are financially, physically incapacitated due to life threatening diseases or otherwise and iii) school going children whose parent(s), guardians' income all sources not exceeding Rs 72,000 annually (BPL family) .
The eligible applicants can obtain the application form at the office of DCPO, Ukhrul/Kamjong from 11 am to 3 pm or download the same from https://ukhrul.nic.in from February 21 onwards.
The notification further informed that issue and receipt of duly filled application form along with necessary supporting documents will be closed at 3 pm of March 10 .
It may be noted that sponsorship assistance is a provision of supplementary financial support to children of poor families in order to prevent child destitution, ensures continuation of the child's education, offers child care within the family setting, meets medical, nutritional, educational and other needs of destitute children with a view to improving their overall quality of life.
