Imphal, June 17 2022:
Chief minister N Biren has hailed his party BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the paragons of nationalism.
Biren was attending a book discussion on "Veer Savarkar: The man who could have prevented partition", authored by Central Information Commissioner Uday Mahukar and Chirayu Pandit, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy auditorium, here on Friday.
The programme was organised by Intellectual Forum of North East - Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Biren expressed that the book titled "Veer Savarkar: The man who could have prevented partition" is not just a book but an awareness to the people of the country.
The present generations need to Understand and acknowledge freedom fighters, who had played and contributed immensely in making the present day India.
It is the ideologies of BJP founders like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who stood against partition, that make a strong India.
The party's leaders did not have timely information about the partition and as such, they could not prevent it, he said.
BJP's philosophy is always nation first.
BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are the paragons of nationalism from whom one should learn about loving the country.
Under the leadership of PM Modi, the Central government has taken up certain initiatives to bring up those unsung freedom fighters, who had contributed much in shaping the country, to the knowledge of the present youth, he said.
While commending the authors for coming up with such a book which would be knowledge sharing to the people, the CM also stressed the need to have discussions and symposiums on the history of the state.
The state is experiencing a fault line between the hills and valley due to years of divide and rule policy of the past governments, he claimed, adding that the second term of BJP government is trying to erase this fault line and bring together the hill and valley.
One should be aware that the history of Manipur did not begin from 1960s but it is a civilisation of thousands of years.
Unprecedented increase in number of unregistered villages and unexplainable growth of population are some major issues the state is facing, he said while stressing the need to find out the root of these issues.
Central Information Commissioner Uday Mahukar, Dhanamanjuri University vice-chancellor professor Nongmaithem Rajmuhon, Manipur University vice-chancellor professor Naorem Lokendra, Manipur University of Culture vice-chancellor professor Paonam Gunindro, RIMS director professor Ahanthem Santa, Kargil War Hero Colonel (Dr) Rajesh Adhau, and Sangeet Natak Akademi New Delhi's general council member Sh Nabachandra also attended the function.
