75th Anniversary of the end of World War-II observed

The 75th Anniversary of the end of World War-II was observed yesterday at Imphal War Cemetery.
The programme organised by the 2nd World War Imphal Campaign Foundation was attended by Lok Sabha MP, Dr RK Ranjan as the chief guest.
The chief guest paid floral tributes to those soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in Manipur during the war at the occasion.
The programme also saw the MP release a souvenir titled "Yening Hunba".
Dr RK Ranjan, at the occasion, said that such observation programmes bear massive significance as the war left a strong message to the world.
The war which broke out in 1939 and ended in 1945 reached Manipur with Allied Force and Axis Force battling it out in Manipur in what is popularly known to Manipuris as Japan Lan, he said while adding that battles were fought in Imphal and Kohima during the campaign.
Battles were also fought at Tamu, Sinam, Pallel, Tiddim, Chin Hills, Bishnupur, Kanglatongbi, Nungsigam, Sangshak, Ukhrul and Litan, he remarked.
The MP also called on youths to join hands in studying such historically significant events and become frontrunners in bringing world peace.
