Imphal, May 16 2023:
Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has urged the state government for immediate intervention to stabilise the supply-chain sys-tem of essential commodities.
In a letter addressed to the chief secretary, MCCI secretary Haorokcham Anil referred to report about supply-chain sys-tem being badly affected due to the present unrest situation in the state leading to scarcity and hiking prices of commodities of daily use.
Due to suspension of inter-net connectivity in the state for general public, cash transaction is now the only possible way for doing business transactions and daily activities for procuring any essential commodities.
Hence, government of Manipur should instruct banks to keep adequate cash at ATMs operating in the state, it added.
Pointing out that business houses of Manipur are now fac-ing problems to file GST of last financial month i.e., March, MCCI further appealed to the government to coordinate with GST Council, India/authority concerned to extend the time for the filing payment of GST until the internet service is resumed.
