The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given permission to RIMS for using plasma therapy in treating COVID-19 .
RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar told The Sangai Express that they received permission for plasma therapy from ICMR yesterday.
Accordingly, RIMS authority has arranged necessary equipment for the particular line of treatment, he said.
Under plasma therapy, plasma would be collected from donors from asymptomatic COVID-19 patients 28 days after they have recovered and the plasma thus collected would be used in treating COVID-19, Prof Arunkumar said.
On the other hand, a scientific discussion was held today on the COVID-19 pandemic among doctors of RIMS, JNIMS, Shija Hospital and some doctors based in the UK through webinar.
