Inter-State border peace committee proposed

Imphal, April 12 2015 :
Officials from Nagaland and Manipur held a meeting in Ukhrul district's Jessami subdivision in connection with recent misunderstanding over boundary issue that occurred in Soraphung area of Jessami on Manipur-Nagaland border.
In the meeting held on March 28 last, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Superintendant of Police, and SDO and SDPO of Jessami represented Manipur side while Superintendant of Police and SDPO of Melori subdivision attended it on behalf of Nagaland Government.
The meeting agreed that skirmishes over border dispute should not be allowed in future.
It proposed a peace committee representing villagers from Jessami, Soraphung, Wahong, Matikhar of Manipur and Nagaland's Melori, Matirkul.

Hathang and Athem.
The meeting further resolved to allow normal farming activities by villagers in this border area of the two States as usual and to maintain the age-old peaceful coexistence.
