Imphal, November 01 2012:
All Tribal Disable Union Manipur (ATDUM) has appealed to the Social Welfare Department and all concerned not to give cooperation to organizations in the hills which are supposedly working for the welfare of disable but are not affiliated to ATDUM.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here in Imphal, Momo Tantanga, President of ATDUM, asserted that the allegations made by one Chungmi Ragui, who claims to be the President of ATDUM, Ukhrul branch and Tamruiwon Zimik, who claims to be the President of Indigenous Mother's Association (IMA) against the leaders of ATDUM, head quarters are false and baseless.
He clarified that ATDUM had never negotiated with higher authorities of Social Welfare Department.
In fact, ATDUM headquarters had reacted against the silent attitude of the state government over distribution of certificates to people with disabilities even after the government had taken the decision to distribute the same.
Accordingly, ATDUM volunteers blocked Imphal Ukhrul road at Mahadev to stop officials of Social Welfare Department for going ahead to Ukhrul for 'Assessment cum Identification Camp for Person with Disabilities and Issue of Disability Certificate' on November 8 .
Momo further asserted that Chungmi Ragui is not even a primary member of ATDUM and is unknown to ATDUM.
If he is found using the letter head of ATDUM under any circumstances, strict actions would be taken up against him.
He also charged Chungmi Ragui of misappropriating funds from the Social Welfare Department in the name of people with disabilities.
