'Langban Chara-Tamba' performed

Imphal, October 11 2015:
Women Action for Development (WAD) and Conflict Widow Forum (CWF) organized 'Langban Chara-Tamba' at Nongdam Sanglen Pakhangba Lainingkon, Wakha in Imphal East on Sunday.
Over fifty women from different ethnic groups, who are the victims of conflict/AFSPA, drugs and AIDS, rape and murder and domestic violence, took part in the ritual ceremony, WAD Secretary Sobita Mangsatabam said in a press note.

The victims' children of armed conflict and parents of victims of rape and murder cases were also present on the occasion.
The main objective of the ceremony was to pay homage to the untimely departed souls in different incidents and to observe a prayer to repeal Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from the region.
Many of the widows expressed their happiness over such ceremonies which could not be performed earlier due to lack of resources.
They also said that they felt relieved from anxiety after attend the ceremony.
