Imphal, July 10 2020:
To check price hike, the Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) has appealed public to get receipt/cash memo when they buy goods from shops.
Speaking to media persons at HERICOUN office at Konung Mamang, its secretary Yumkhaibam Surjit Kumar said that the spiralling prices of goods amid the COVID-19 lockdown has added burden to the people.
There are reports of price hike but the council is not able to take any action for lack of concrete evidence, he said adding people should ask the shop-owners/shopkeepers for cash memo when they buy goods.
Concerned with the price hike amid the COVID-19 lockdown, HERICOUN held a meeting with stockists, wholesalers, dealers and suppliers on July 8 and took resolution that the sellers would provide the customers with receipts/cash memos, he said.
Advising people to ask for cash memo for the goods they buy, he appealed all to inform the HERICOUN if they are not given the cash memo or there is any discrepancy.
The council would inform the authorities concerned and take legal action against the shop or outlet concerned, he added.
