Former Speaker lays foundation stone for Kauna Processing Cluster workshed

The foundation stone of a work shed for Kauna Cluster Processing Cluster implemented by the Social Welfare Development Association, Yumnam Khunou was laid by Th Lokeshwar Singh, MLA of Khundrakpam AC at Yumnam Khunou Awang Leikai, Imphal East.
The project is implemented under SFURTI Scheme (Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries) of the Ministry of MSME, Govt of India through the Nodal Agency - Process and Products Development Centre (PPDC), Agra.
The Ministry has funded seven Clusters in Manipur for 2020, such as Kauna Processing Cluster, Pineapple processing and value added Cluster, wood based carving and Bamboo and Cane Processing.
The former Speaker at the occasion stated that the MSME sector has emerged as a dynamic sector of the Indian economy over the last five decades.
MSME contributes enormously to the socio-economic development of the country and has a large share of jobs, production and exports, he said.
MSMEs helps in providing opportunities at comparatively lower cost; in industrialization of rural and backward areas, he said.
MSMEs also reduce regional imbalances through the optimum utilization of their resources, he said.
It is also mentioned that the construction works of the following worksheds of Wood Base Furniture Cluster of Progressive Rural Development Agency, Andro; Cane and Bamboo Furniture making Cluster of Planters and Producers Association at Sonapur, Jiribam and Wood Carving and Carpentry cluster at Mantripukhri, Imphal of Manipur Peoples Initiative are in progress and expecting to be completed soon.
