Imphal, August 09 2011:
Observing that the State is plagued by a multitude of issues, and that the people have been living under a highly insecure atmosphere, BJP Manipur Pradesh has blamed the Congress-led SPF Government for the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Sh Shantikumar said that law and order situation has reached the nadir with the Government's intelligence wing presenting a flop show.
This is the basic reason for the repeated cases of bomb blast in Imphal which has the highest presence of security personnel.
Even as the Government has declared that NSCN-IM was behind the Sangakpham bomb blast, the Government has not taken up legal action.
Rather it is waiting for the Centre's instruction, Shantikumar asserted.
Quoting Chief Minister O Ibobi's statement that the demand for Sadar Hills district is justified, Shantikumar questioned as to why the Government remains a silent spectator when the State is literally burning over the issue.
Demanding that the Government should work sincerely to bring a solution to the issue, the BJP leader asserted that the Government should resign if it is incapable finding a solution.
While prices of essential commodities have escalated to the highest level, the Government has not yet taken up any remedial measures.
With the traders determining prices at their own whims, poor people of the State have been enduring untold miseries.
Under such circumstances, it would not be wrong to say that the Government is anti-people.
In the name of executing development programmes albeit without quality, Congress Ministers and MLAs have been amassing their personnel properties.
The Government has not yet initiated any concrete step to protect the National Highways nor any attention is given for upgrading education in the State.
Rather, the Government is working to create more problems in education sector, Shantikumar asserted.
