Bishnupur, December 07 2019:
Head mason Chongtham Tikendrajit has refuted the charge labelled against late Nongmaithem Lamyanba alias Pibarel (19) of Kumbi Awang Khunou, his younger brother Nongmaithem Poireinganba and his locality friend Khangembam Henajit by Lamding Educated Welfare Association (LEWA).
Speaking to media persons during a press meet today, Tikendrajit continued that using the name of other construction workers who have no connection with the issue is very unfortunate.
Conveying that a few people from Kumbi went to Lamding for driving piles to construct a building on November 23 and on that specific day, the trio were rounded up by the volunteers of LEWA on charge of robbing mobile phone and using drugs, Tikendrajit maintained that the allegation made by LEWA in some sections of print media that the incident took place in front of other construction workers is baseless and fabricated.
He then urged all concerned to stop spreading such fabricated news immediately which might tarnish the image of innocent constructer workers.
Wahengbam Naocha from Kumbi Sagolpat, who also took part in the press meet, said that he and some of his colleagues were called up by the volunteers of LEWA at its office.
Claiming that late Pibarel was administered two Alzolam tablets 'forcibly' on that fateful day and the three individuals were forced to speak against their wishes during the interrogation, he appealed all volunteers of LEWA not to repeat such act in the future.
