Sites identified for football academy

Langthabal and Khundrakpam in Imphal West have been identified as the right places where a state level football academy can be set up after determining the best one under outside funding, stated MLA L Ibomcha on Thursday.
The Keishamthong constituency MLA was speaking at a reception ceremony of Kh Alina Devi, National Child Exceptional Awardee, 2012 organised by Pakhangba Tae-Kwondo Academy (PTA), Sega Road at Social Welfare Club, Nganapi-Thong in Imphal West.
He said Langthabal and Khundrakpam in the district have been identified as the right places where a state level football academy can be set up after selecting the best one under outside funding.
Alleging that the Government of India is not looking after the state properly and that the state Government is ignoring sportspersons of the state at the same time, Ibomcha said sports organizations and sportsmen are facing problems due to lack of funds while participating at both the national and international events.
He also claimed that sportspersons in the state are bringing laurels to both Manipur and India by their potentials and hard labours only.
P Dhanakumar, who was also present at the function, highlighted on the need of inspiring and encouraging children in achieving such award like National Exceptional Child Award.
He also said the state education system should introduce extra-curricular activities like games and sports for the physical and mental development of children.
At the reception ceremony, the organizer presented simple gifts to National Child Exceptional Awardee, 2012 Mina Devi.
Ch Prameshwor, president, PTA, P Dhanakumar, Chairman, Board of Secondary Education and L Premjit, vice president, All Manipur Tae-Kwondo Association also attended the function.
