Nagaland CM's delegates meet DoNER Minister over Naga Political Solution

Nagaland Chief Minister T..RZeliang along with his Cabinet colleagues and Member of Lok Sabha Neiphiu Rio called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region and Minister of State (Prime Minister's Office) Dr Jitendra Singh.
A release from CMO Nagaland said during the discussion with Dr.Jitendra Singh at Nagaland House, New Delhi on Saturday, Zeliang appreciated the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for having ensured that the Naga political issue is very near to the final settlement.
Further, Zeliang emphasized that it is essential that the process for finalizing the final solution to its logical end is expedited.
The CM mentioned that it has been 20 years of negotiations and with the State scheduled to have Assembly Polls early next year, it is important that settlement of Naga Political issue is done before the elections.
Lok Sabha MP Rio also highlighted that this is the most opportune time for a final settlement with BJP Governments in Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh and it will be in the interest of all if the settlement is done before Christmas.
The CMO release maintained that Union Minister Dr.Jitendra Singh appreciated the initiative expressed hope that settlement of Naga Political Issue will be done soon.
The Nagaland Chief Ministerial delegation also had a meeting with the Working Group for the six Naga Nationalist Political Groups, NNPGs who have been invited by Central Government to be a part of the ongoing Naga political talks in New Delhi.
The leaders of the Working Committee included Convener N.Kitovi Zhimomi and Co-Conveners Zhopra Vero, Hozhet o Chophy, V.Nagi, Kiumukam and Wangtin Naga and Envoy Alezo Venuh.
During the meeting, which was held on Saturday evening, Chief Minister T R Zeliang said involvement of the six NNPGs in the talks is essential for an inclusive and durable solution to the long standing issue.
He complimented the leaders of the NNPGs for their vision and maturity in joining the talks and hoped that with the sincerity being shown by Central Government, the final settlement seems to be very near.
He also mentioned about the need of settlement before the next state general elections due in February next year.
A release stated that Convenor of the Working Group N Kitovi and other leaders impressed upon Chief Minister and all leaders to continue working towards ensuring a final settlement of Naga Political Issue that is inclusive, honourable and acceptable to all for long standing Peace in the State.
