Imphal, August 06 2020:
Surge in COVID-19 infection in the State is making people follow the lockdown/curfew imposed by the State Government voluntarily without the police enforcing it.
With the increasing number of people who have no travel history testing positive, and reported deaths, people are apprehensive of venturing out.
Shops inside the streets and localities which used to open most of the time even during curfew are seen mostly closed these past few days.
Vegetable vendors are also no longer seen.
Some shopkeepers, speaking to this reporter, said they have almost run out of their supplies however they are afraid to go and fetch their supplies from the wholesalers/suppliers.
The curfew/lockdown is also stopping them, they added.
However, ATMs are still seen with queues by maintaining social distancing and people in essential services are still attending offices.
Meanwhile, non-COVID patients are facing a hard time getting treatment.
As most of the OPDs, clinics and even doctors who open clinics at home are no longer in service, the impact is felt by the patients.
