AMCO meeting held

Executive members of All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) held a meeting at Kuki Baptist Convention (KBC) office today to discuss the recent declaration of making Good Friday (March 30) an official working day by the State Government in a hasty manner.
According to a press release issued by the organisation, the official declaration caused grievances and created a lot of misunderstanding with the.
Such kind of hasty notification is bound to create confusion, fear and misunderstanding amongst the people.
It appealed to the authority concerned to bring religious and communal harmony, which is the foundation and democratic fabric of the society.
AMCO prayed that the Government will observe the National holidays of Christian community with respect and dignity.
It also expressed hope that the Government will not continuously provoke the Christian community with such declarations.
The organisation is ready to launch a non-violent movement and bring better understanding amongst the Government authorities to abide with the principles of democratic participatory process as enshrined in the Constitution.
AMCO also expressed optimism that the Government will make remedial and confidence building steps with the Christian community in the State so as to build a progressive and civilized society.
