IBSD laboratory inauguration today

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, who is scheduled to arrive here on Tuesday, will inaugurate a Phytopharmaceutical laboratory at Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyelpat.
The VP will also be attending a seminar which will be organised on the topic of "Bioeconomic from bioresources of North Easter Region of India'".
Organised by IBSD under the aegis of Ministry of Science and Technology, the event will be attended by the Vice president as chief guest, Manipur Governor La Ganesan as guest of honour and CM N Biren as functional president.
Upon his arrival, VP M Venkaiah Naidu will be welcomed by CM Biren, IBSD director Prof Pulok Kumar Mukherjee and Institute Scientist Dr Nanaocha Sharma.
He (VP) will then unveil a plaque to inaugurate the laboratory, following which he will visit the Indian SARS-COV-2-Genomic Consortium (INSACOG) facility set up at the Institute.
The programme is scheduled to commence from 11.20 am on Tuesday.
Besides, Vice-president Naidu, BJP national president JP Nadda is also scheduled to visit the state on October 9 in connection with the upcoming 60-member Manipur assembly polls due early next year, party sources said.
Along with meeting CM N Biren, BJP ministers and MLAs, the national president will inaugurate new party offices and hold booth-level meeting.
Meanwhile, ahead of the state visit of M Venkaiah, Imphal West district police conducted search operations in different parts of the district as a part of the pre-emptive measures on Monday.
According to police, a district police team led by additional SP (ops), DSP commando and commando OC conducted search operation in Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai, Heinoukhongnembi, Lamdong, Iroisemba and Langjing areas from 6.30 am to 8 am.
Around 180 houses in these localities were searched and nearly 350 people including 8 bailouts verified.
However, there were no reports of any arrest made during these search operations, it added.
