Fate of peace accord :: Manipur will react if territory is compromised: Ibobi

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi told reporters in a news conference on Tuesday that Manipur shall never remain a silent spectator if the peace accord between the Indian Government and the NSCN (IM) threatens territorial integrity of Manipur.
He said that in the past, the State Government was taken into confidence.
However, this time, there was an information black out.
He also questioned the signing of the accord by an interlocutor on behalf of the Union Government.
Soon after the news of the signing of the accord was received, he had rang up the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to ask him a copy of it to the Manipur Government.
Singh reportedly assured him that the copy would be sent and volunteered the information that it would be presented to the Parliament on Tuesday.

However, Singh has not done either of the two and it only shows that the central government lacks honesty, Ibobi said.
It is a wrong policy on the part of the centre not to disclose the details of the accord to the people. In a democracy, there should be transparency in all government activities.
If the NDA swears by transparency the accord should be made public.
He wanted to know what hidden agenda the government has for not disclosing the details. Ibobi also disclosed that the drafting committee has submitted its report on the migrants' bill.
The Government will examine it from the legal point.
The government would like to hold discussions with the representatives of the JCILPS on this issue.
He said that the demand of making 1951 the base year needs to be examined.
He said that there is no question of resorting to delaying tactics by the Government on the issue.
