Imphal, February 04 2019:
Demanding the State Government to make necessary arrangement to consider the sentiments and desire of the private schools regarding the recent decision of the Government to allocate only Government school as examination centres and Government school teachers as examiners for the coming High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination, before February 9, the All Manipur Private School Association has threatened to launch an all Manipur general strike from midnight of February 10 till the midnight of February 12 if the authority fails to do so.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the association's spokesperson Malemkhomba Heisnam alleged that the act of allocating Government schools as examination centres and Government school teachers as examiners, is an act of discrimination against the private school teachers.
Questioning whether this step will guide the students towards a better future, he said that private schools have been producing meritorious and talented students in the State since the last 25-30 years.
This recent act of the State Government is an attempt to kill off the private schools/institutions, he alleged and demanded the private schools to be allocated as examination centres for the HSLC examination.
If in case the examination is held improperly and without any quality, then all the blame will be on the Government teachers, he warned.
