Jiribam, January 04 2018:
The road blockade and protest launched by the locals of Dibong Khunou demanding the swift repair of Dibong Khunou Inter Village Road (IVR), under Jiribam district, has been called off, following a positive response from the PWD authority.
The locals threatened to launch more stringent agitation if the authority concerned fails to meet their demands.
Maximum number of IVRs in Jiribam district have been kept in a pathetic condition for a long time and the Dibong Khunou road is one of the worst IVR roads in the district.
The locals have been launching different forms of agitation including imposing restriction of passage of vehicles, since December 10 last year, reports our correspondent.
It can be recalled that Dibong Khunou IVR is an important stretch which leads to Jiri College, ITI, AR camp, Kadamtala and NHPCL office etc.
The dilapidated condition of the said road cause many problems and mishaps to school students and passers-by.
Numerous appeal were also made to the authority concerned seeking immediate intervention, however, the negligence of the authority concerned compelled the locals to take up the protests.
