Urea distributed free of cost

With a view to mitigate the hardship in procuring fertilizers during the lockdown and to ensure successful cultivation of rice, Torbung GP Joint Clubs Organisation, an apex body of 8 local clubs in Torbung Gram Panchayat under Kumbi Assembly Constituency distributed 100 urea fertilizers to around 200 farmers from the areas covered by the clubs.
The distribution of fertilizer sponsored by one social worker, Sanasam Premchandra from Saiton Salankonjil was held at Torbung community hall in the presence of members of Torbung GP Joint Clubs Organisation.
As a part of the distribution programme, the social worker extended monetary to the fund of All Bishnupur District Working Journalists Union apart from handing over petrol to the union's president, Y Somananda and vice president, Dr H Romen for distribution to the district journalists.
Sanasam Premchandra, told media persons that the fertilizers were distributed in view of the lockdown in place and the hardships of the farmer in availing them.
His little contribution will help subside the fear of farmers that productivity of rice will be lessened due to inadequate supply of fertilizer, he said.
He also saluted the role of journalists during such a hard time and said that the donation was made to encourage them.
