Imphal, March 31 2015 :
National Socialist Council of Nagaland led by SS Khaplang or NSCN (K) Tuesday stated that it was no use extending cease-fire without discussing the issue of Naga "sovereignty" .
In a press note issued by NSCN (K) Military Supervisor 'Lt.Gen' Niki Sumi, the outfit has claimed that the in the context of Naga struggle, "peace and sovereignty is indivisible component" .
NSCN (K) Military Supervisor said that clamouring for peace without even an inclination to discuss sovereignty issue was only a "farce" and any settlement or solution short of sovereignty would only be "a betrayal of Nagas historical and political legacy."
Reacting to detractors of NSCN (K) who had accused the outfit of being "anti-peace and anti-cease-fire", Niki Sumi said that these groups should realise that the 14 years of cease-fire with the Government of India has only been a "psychological ploy" to "undermine and demoralise the patriotic spirit and fervour of the Nagas" .
NSCN (K) has also pointed out that the Government of India has till now not expressed courtesy to discuss "Naga sovereignty issue" as it has been the only basis of the Nagas struggle and therefore it was futile to continue extension of cease-fire.
On Chairman SS Khaplang's credentials being questioned by those who had been expelled from the group, NSCN (K) reminded that these were the same people who had admitted recently to media that they regard SS Khaplang as their "messiah".
However, when SS Khaplang directed them to abrogate the cease-fire, they opted to condemn SS Khaplang.
NSCN (K) said with the dawn of democracy in Myanmar and restructuring of Myanmar Union into autonomous democratic units, the Nagas under SS Khaplang were invited on several occasions to join the Union of Myanmar.
However, Khaplang refused the offer and even boycotted the first Myanmar democratic elections in the Naga areas, informed NSCN (K) .
The outfit informed that it was only after Nagas of Myanmar expressed the wish for peaceful political dialogue, Khaplang agreed for "unconditional cease-fire" with Myanmar Government, said the press note.
