Imphal, January 31 2023:
The All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA) has reiterated its demands and warned the Government of more intense agitations.
At Manipur Press Club today, AMHSDA general secretary Dr Lolee P Mao decried that the Government has so far not taken any concrete steps to address their demands.
"The Government considers the services of the doctors essential, but not the doctors" .
The AMHSDA is the biggest organisation of doctors with a membership of around 1,300-1,400.However, the Government has failed to hear the plight of the doctors and address their 'legitimate' demands, Lolee P Mao said.
Initially, the AMHSDA had put forward 8 charter of demands, but after talks with the Government it was reduced to just four.
Their demands include time bound scale and promotion; extension of superannuation age of specialist and non-specialist doctors to 65 years; inclusion of NPA in the basic pay with effect from January 1 of 2016 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission; and amendment of the 'outdated' MHS Rules 1982 .
Notably, AMHSDA had started their agitation by donning black badges and holding sit-in protests in November, 2022 .
