NPF MLA Samuel Risom stripped off security cover

In a controversial move, NPF legislator Samuel Risom has been stripped off his security cover while on his way to Ukhrul on Friday morning.
A highly placed source said that NPF MLA Samuel Risom was forced to withdraw his security cover at Lamlai and had to proceed with few of his staff and party workers to Ukhrul.
A posse of police led by Imphal East DSP reportedly stopped the Ukhrul AC legislator at Lamlai around 10am and asked him to leave behind his security guards if at all he has to proceed.
A source said the order imposed on the NPF MLA came from the "higher authorities" while also stating that it could not take risk during the ongoing UNC bandh.
His security guards were also reportedly threatened with service suspension if they defy the order and accompany the legislator to Ukhrul.
Risom was on his way to attend a valedictory function of Shomi Memorial Football Trophy at Hungpung village.
The Ukhrul AC MLA and his party counterpart from Mao Assembly constituency Dikho graced the programme as guest of honour and chief guest respectively.
Mao AC legislator arrived at Ukhrul via Senapati's Khamasom road.
It was also informed that he had his lunch at Somdal village at 11.30am.In the recent general strike called by Film Forum Manipur (FFM), Risom's cavalcade also came under attack and even his official car suffered damage.
In this wake, he petitioned the state Home Minister for additional security but was reportedly denied.
Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has expressed strong resentment against the treatment meted out to Ukhrul AC MLA Samuel Risom.
Terming the move as totally unjustifiable, the TKS stated that if such treatment is being meted out to "honourable member of Manipur Legislative Assembly" one can simply imagine how an ordinary citizen would be seen in the eye of the state government.
It also said that the "incident exemplify the biased and discriminatory attitude against the tribal of Manipur" .
Further, TKS questioned that "the state government under the politically dominant valley community still maintaining mange attitude towards the hill people" .
