Ukhrul, November 24 2014:
Tangkhul Naga Zingtun Longphang (TNZL) appealed to the Poumai Naga Union (PNU) to maintain restraint and be rationale in dealing with conflict surrounding Theiva (Thiwa) Baptist Church.
In a press communiqu issued on Monday, the TNZL appealed to PNU to be more humane and maintain restraint on prevailing conflict in Theiva Baptist Church, in a Tangkhul village in Senapati district.
After a media report on desecration of Theiva Baptist Church in local and regional dailies, the PNU summoned K.Yarkahao, a church deacon of Thiwa village, on November 25 at its office in Senapati.
In a show cause notice, Yarkahao was directed to report to PNU office at 10.30 PM tomorrow, a summon which the TNZL has taken serious exception.
The Tangkhul body termed the action of PNU as a threat and inhumane act to ask anyone for an audience at odd hour, and that too in time of conflict situation.
It also asserted that it would not allow the Church deacon to attend the PNU's summon.
Terming the statements given by Yarkahao as nothing based on personal interest, TNZL stood by him and sought justification from the Poumai body, while urging the latter not to make such repeat in future.
