Imphal, October 23 2020:
The National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) has demanded all involved in carrying out rampant tobacco product business in the State to surrender to the public.
The flourishing business of betel leaves, other tobacco products and intoxicants when the State is being overwhelmed by COVID-19 outbreak and the people are economically pushed back, shows that the State Government really do not care lives of the people, NIPCO said in a statement while expressing concern over the regular import of more than 100 baskets of pan products in the State on daily basis via aeroplanes.

The Government should immediately investigate the matter and stop it at the earliest, it demanded.
All locals and non-locals who are carrying out the business using aeroplanes, trucks and other modes of transportation should desist their activities at the earliest and surrender to the public or else their identities will be revealed through the media, it added.
