7 held with 11 kg opium, 2 kg brown sugar, 1 kg heroin

Imphal, June 20 2022:
A team of Bishnupur district police commando arrested three women and recovered 11.03 kg of opium from their possession.
The arrested trio has been identified as Neikholhing Haolai (55), wife of late Zamlun Haolai of Mollen Kamsei village, Ukhrul district; Lhingjalam Hangshing (49), wife of Haothang Hangshing of Mollen kamsei village, Ukhrul district; and Hekim Hangsing (47), wife of late Lenmang Hangsing of Lhungtin village, Kangpokpi district.
According to a police source, a team of Bishnupur district police commando conducted frisking at the Bishnupur police station gate along Tiddim road from 6.30 am on Monday based on inputs from 31 AR about transportation of contraband items by some women.
The team stopped a Tata winger vehicle (MN05C 0899) for verification and searched the three women occupants of the vehicle in the presence of an executive magistrate at about 8 am.
During the search, eight plastic packets containing suspected opium wrapped in plastic tape weighing 4.022 kg were found concealed beneath the waist belt of Neikholhing Haolai.
Another consignment of opium weighing 3.502 kg was found from Lhingjalam Hangshing.
The drugs were found packed in Everyday milk plastic carried beneath the waist belt and inside her hand bag.
The third lady namely Hekim Hangsing, on body search, was found to be carrying contraband opium in four Every Day milk plastic packets arid one Everyday salt packet weighing 3.51 kg.
The packets containing 11.03 kg opium along with Rs 19,840 and their mobile phones were seized.
The seized items and the arrested women have been handed over to Bishnupur police station for necessary action.
In another major drug bust, Kangpokpi police seized brown sugar worth more than Rs 34 crore while conducting checking at the gate of the district police station on June 17.Earlier, the district police had made large seizures of heroin (around 4.271 kg) worth Rs 58.95 crore in international market in two separate operations.
The latest haul of browri sugar wrapped in four packets, weighing 2.025kg and worth Rs 34,13,20,000 in the international market was made on June 17 around 4 pm while conducting checking and frisking by a team of Kangpokpi police led by sub inspectors S Raju Singh and Hemjamang Khongsai.
In connection with the latest drug bust, SP Kangpokpi Amrita Sinha on Monday informed that the team of the district police seized the brown sugar after detaining a driver and another occupant of a grey-colour Mahindra Bolero (No AS12H-1485) .
The drug consignment was found concealed inside the vehicle.
The driver has been identified as P Sahriini Mikrii (56), son of Puni of Laii in Senapati district, and the passenger as Paotinmang Khongsai (21), son of Thanglen Khongsai of J Songpijang village, Tengnoupal Sub Division of Chandel, (as per their Aadhaar cards), currently residing at Naphai village under Lhungtin sub division in Kangpokpi district.
The duo was produced before the JMFC/Kangpokpi and remanded to 10 days of police custody till June 27, the SP further said.
In other drug haul case, a team of Kakching police led by subedar Ksh Prakash arrested two persons, including a driver, and seized 1.090kg of suspected heroin pow er at Leimanai Chingjin on Monday.
The drug was found concealed inside the fuel tank and the right side panel below the body of a Maruti Suzuki Brezza (maroon colour) vehicle bearing registration number MN02B-1095.From the vehicle, 89 soap cases containing suspected heroin power were detected.
The seized items weighed 1.090 kg and worth around Rs 2.39 crore in international market.
The arrested persons have been identified as Manglalmuon Gangte (35) s/o Paoneimang Gangte of Moreh Ward No 2, Mission Veng and Houminsem Singsong (25) s/o Henkhogin Singson of Zalenphai village, Moreh, both in Tengnoupal district.
The arrested persons along with the seized articles were handed over to OC Kakching police station.
