BSF honours martyrs' families

Imphal, October 19 2018:
54 Bn BSF under the aegis of its Commandant Suneel Kumar Singh observed martyrs day by reaching out to families of martyrs and remembering their contributions in safeguarding the borders and integrity of the Nation.
Showing solidarity, MKT Simte 2 ic (adm) visited Saiton Govt High School where (L) Ct Lhunkhohao of 123 Bn BSF had studied.
In 2016, a memorial stone was also erected at the school premises in remembrance of the martyr.
123 Bn was earlier deployed in Kisthwar in J&K on internal security duty.
On Aug 28, 1991 (L) Ct Lhunkhohao was abducted by the militants and his dead body was later recovered from Anantnag (J&K) near National Highway on September 5, 1991.His supreme sacrifice in the line of duty for the Nation will always be remembered, said a statement of the 54 Bn BSF.
As a token of honour and remembrance, a shawl was given to the martyr's family.
The surviving family thanked the BSF for its kind gesture.
Yesterday, the 54 Bn BSF had visited Government High School, Singhat, Churachandpur in honour and in remembrance of martyr late Constable S Kham Zagou.
In 2016, a memorial stone was erected and the school library was dedicated to the martyr.
The late Constable's wife Moinu was honoured with a traditional shawl by MKT Simte, Second in Command, 54 BN BSF.
During the programme, Moinu expressed her desire to visit the final resting place of her husband in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district (1993).MKT Singh also donated sports items to the students of the school.
