Police fine SOP violators

Imphal, April 18 2021:
The Police Department continued the crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
During today's drive, 510 persons were detained and released later after warning and a sum of Rs 89,450/- was collected as fine from SOPs violators, said a statement by the Police.
The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOPs shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
The Police Department had been working since the beginning of the pandemic last year to make the people aware of the dangers of Covid-19 and to ensure that the people are following all the Covid-19 SOP as mandated by the Government to combat the spread of the virus.
