Selected for Dhaka Film Fest

Borun Thokchom's 'I RISE' has been selected to be screened at the prestigious 16th International Short and Independent Film Festival, Dhaka 2022 .
The 52-minute long documentary film - I Rise on ace boxer Laishram Sarita Devi is directed and cinematographed by National award winning film maker Borun Thokchom.
The 16th International Short and Independent Film Festival, Dhaka 2022 will be held from February 25 to March 4, 2022 where two awards will be given in the category of Best Fiction and Best Documentary films which comes with a cash prize of USD $1000 for each film.
The festival was started in December 1988 as the first international festival of short films in the entire subcontinent and is now an internationally recognized showcase for the latest short and independent films made around the globe.
The festival is a seven day long event, and screenings will be held simultaneously at three auditoriums in different parts of the city.
The main venue is the Central Public Library Auditorium at Shahbagh.
The other venues are the National Museum's Main Auditorium and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Auditorium.
Each screening is about 110-120 minutes, which comprises various genres�short fiction, short animation, short documentary, short experimental, and feature-length films.
Besides regular screening sessions, there will be other special screening sessions also, such as Lithuanian film package, FTI student film package etc.
Apart from short films, the festival also promotes the local independent films which are internationally acclaimed and well-received in global festival circuits.
From the last edition of the festival, another important addition is the "NETPAC Jury Award" � which is only for participating Asian countries in the festival in both the "Fiction" and "Documentary" category.
Another award announced by the festival is the "Tareq Shahriar Best Independent Short", which is given to young and aspiring Bangladeshi filmmakers.
