Imphal, June 16 2017:
The All Tribal Chiefs And Public Grievances Forum, Chandel district (ATCPGF) comprising of 12 village chiefs from various ethnic tribes has come up with an idea to start a mega cultural event in Chandel district saying that such kind of programme is extremely important in a district like Chandel which is like a "mini-cultural -Mosaic land consisting of various ethnic tribes of Manipur living together in a spectrum of peaceful co-existence".
In this regard, the ATCPGF has sought the help of Chief Minister, N Biren Singh.
On Thursday, the ATCPGF delegation led by tribal activist Romeo Bungdon who is also the
general secretary of All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) apprised the Chief Minister to "initiate" the cultural festival and "grace" the event.
The ATCPGF told the Chief Minister that Chandel district is a "mini-cultural -Mosaic land consisting of various ethnic tribes of Manipur living together in a spectrum of peaceful co-existence" .
It however stated that due to trend of modem western culture influences and lack of tribal cultural Institutes the tribal people are gradually assimilating to irrelevant cultures.
"It is envisaged that organising a cultural festival in the district shall boost the aspects of peace, tranquillity, integrity, dignity and socio-economy with the essence of traditional manners which is the most important basic education for civilization," a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister said.
The memorandum to the Chief Minister then stated, "Your compassionate visionary action as the new BJP Government in allocating market-buildings in every district headquarters is highly appreciated.
"A market building in Chandel district headquarters be constructed in a multi-purpose design with a .cultural hall on the top, to live up the Traditions and Cultures of the district", it added.
The ATCPGF then apprised the Chief Minister on the matter of ban on Gazette notification of hill village recognition to lift the ban.
