Stop construction works at un-demarcated area in Haolenphai village: Myanmar officials

Additional Deputy Commissioner Moreh N Bangkim and Myanmar police with other officials held a meeting yesterday at the Myanmar Immigration Office, Namphalong market, near Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2.The meeting was held after some Myanmarese reportedly took photographs of an under-construction house at Haolenphai village.
The house belongs to one Lungkhongam Haokip.
During the meeting, Myanmar officials asked the ADC Moreh to stop the construction of the house alleging that the area on which the house is being built is "un-demarcated area", said sources.
The Myanmar officials also claims that the Haolenphai village cemetery is also in "un-demarcated area", added the sources.
Meanwhile, Haolenphai village Chief Lalkholun Haokip has made it clear that the construction works will not stop in the village.
"The land belongs to the village (Haolenphai) and is part of Manipur.
We are building houses on our land.
We will not stop," he said.
