UKLF cadres tried to kidnap, force to withdraw nomination: DN Haokip

Aspiring CPI candidate of Chandel A/C, DN Haokip alleged that UKLF cadres forced him to withdraw from contesting the 10th Manipur State Assembly Election and they even tried to kidnap him while he was on his way to attend the scrutiny on January 12 at Liwa Chaning village.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, DN Haokip alleged that armed cadres of UKLF had forcefully made him sign in a withdrawal form on January 12 last and even tried to kidnap him.
The UKLF cadres have also kidnapped Paokhovin Haokip, who was his proposer.
He further said that he had lodged complaint with the Chief Election Officer about the incident where he mentioned the names of the UKLF Commander, Mangpao Haokip; PRO of UKLF, Khaingam Mate and UKLF cadre Satgonletsat Haokip.
But no actions have been taken up against the cadres of UKLF, which is a signatory to the SoO, even as he continues to receive threats over the phone.
He also said that under such conditions, the commitment of ECI to make the upcoming polls free and fair will be impossible.
Meanwhile the UKLF has denied all allegations made by DN Haokip today.
Speaking to media persons at the designated camp of UKLF at Muwanphui today, NC Brolin Baite, Information and Publicity Secretary, UKLF said that the party has never interfered in the election affairs of the state.
Everybody can cast their votes for whoever candidates they prefer.
The allegations made by DN Haokip are totally baseless and it is targeted to bring a bad image to the party.
He further said that DN Haokip is the person who had established the Chin-Kuki Resistance Force (CKRF).
He had been forcefully extorting money from the public for quite a long time and oppressing the innocent people.
He was even the President of the Kuki Chiefs' Association and had sold away many plots of the Association and resigned from the post of President.
He further alleged that DN Haokip had misused the funds of MGNREGS of around 60/70 villages.
The Party had appealed to him to clarify on the issue top which he have never done so far.
The Party also alleged Chung Jalein alias Lenpu Haokip who was the founder of Kuki National Liberation Front had also planted a number of landmines in Chandel which led to the injury of various children and women and death of many people.
Lenpu Haokip and DN Haokip should clarify and apologise to UKLF failing which unwanted incidents may occur in the future, he added.
