Driver shot at; 3 hurt in antique bomb blast

Imphal, July 11 2014 :
A truck driver was shot at on his thigh by some unidentified armed miscreants at Shantipur under Sekmai Police Station at around 5.15 pm today.
The injured driver has been identified as Bhim Giri (25) of Charhjare, Kanglatongbi.
Reports said Bhim Giri was riding the truck bearing registration no NL01A 8696 loaded with goods was heading for Imphal from Dimapur.
When he reached Shanti Khunou, some unidentified armed persons approached and asked him to stop the vehicle.
Moments after he alighted from the vehicle to ask why they stopped the vehicle in mid-way, the unidentified persons fired a bullet on his left thigh and fled from the area.
The injured driver is undergoing treatment at Catholic Center Hospital at Koirengei.
A case has been registered at Sekmai Police Station in connection with the incident and investigation is going on.
In another incident, three persons engaged in an iron factory were injured when an antique bomb accidentally went off inside the godown of the factory at Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai under City Police Station on July 10 around 2.30 pm.
The injured persons have been identified as Arunkumar Borah (24) s/o Sohani of Berpeta District, Assam; Ghola Borha (21) s/o Ch Borah of Barpeta District, Assam and Soibam Modhu (57) s/o S Ibocha of Changangei Maning Leikai.
The iron factory belongs to one Seram Deven of Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai.
