Imphal, October 07 2020:
The People Task Force for COVID-19 (PTFC-19) has denounced the State police for allegedly detaining two of its volunteers who were taking part in the awareness programme on COVID-19 conducted today at Imphal.
In a statement, PTFC-19 stated that Mahavir Pharmacy in Paona Keithel was closed for a brief period by its volunteers for not conforming to SOPs for COVID-19 while carrying out business.
Later, the Manipur police allowed the shop to open without awarding any disciplinary actions for ignoring Covid containment measures of the Government and instead detained two of PTFC-19 volunteers, it asserted.
Saying that it is the responsibility of the law enforcing agency to punish those who violate the SOPs of COVID-19, the statement urged the State Government and authority concerned to take up necessary actions against the owner and salesman of the Mahavir Pharmacy within 24 hours.
If the demand is not entertained then PTFC-19 will take its own course of action, it cautioned.
